'Take Back the Night' Events Set for Week of April 7-11

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- As part of an effort to make the public more aware of sexual assault, rape and other types of violence, Juniata College will host three "Take Back the Night"events featuring Joseph Weinberg, a rape prevention educator.
All events are free and open to the public.
On Monday, April 7, there will be a screening of the movie "Enough," starring Jennifer Lopez as a woman who is in an abusive relationship, at 7:15 p.m. in room 402 in Good Hall.
On Wednesday, April 9, there will be a lunch discussion with Weinberg and campus men on "Men Taking a Stand" at noon in the faculty lounge of Ellis College Center.
On Thursday, April 10, Weinberg and women on campus will hold another lunch discussion, titled "Women Taking a Stand" at noon in the faculty lounge in Ellis College Center.
Also on Thursday, Weinberg will make a presentation"Take Back the Night: Power, Sex and Intimacy: Deconstructing a Culture of Rape" at 8:15 p.m. in Baker Refectory, the main cafeteria in Ellis College Center.
As part of the events, 200 students and other campus workers will wear T-shirts with the slogan "Take a Stand" on Thursday, April 10.
Weinberg holds workshops across the country to help men understand empathy and sexual ethics. He is president of Men Stopping Rape-Madison (Wis.) and a member of the board of directors of the Dane County (Wis.) Rape Crisis Center.
