(Posted November 24, 2003)

Huntingdon, Pa ? Juniata College senior running back Craig Moshier (Coudersport/Coudersport) and sophomore punter Jesse Leonard (Shade/Johnstown) have been selected to the 2003 Middle Atlantic Conference football All-Conference team. Moshier earned first-team recognition for the second-consecutive season, while in Leonard grabbed a spot on the second team in his first season as Juniata?s starting punter.

Moshier?s 2003 season insured his place as one of the top running backs in the history of Juniata College. He set a new Juniata single-season rushing record in his senior season by rushing for 1,249 yards, an average of more than 124 yards per game. He broke the previous season rushing record of 1,117 which he set himself during the 2002 season. Moshier also shattered his own single-game rushing mark in 2003 with a 285-yard performance against Albright. Moshier set previous record of 222 rushing yards on the 2002 season finale. He capped his career with a 163-yard rushing performance in a win over FDU-Florham. Moshier carried the ball a school-record 41 times in the victory, breaking the previous record of 40 carries. The game marked the sixth time he had rushed for more than 100 yards during the 2003 season. He finished the year third in the MAC in rushing yards and ranked seventh in the conference standings in all-purpose yards. He averaged 140.4 yards of offense per game during the season. His 279 rushing attempts this season were also a new Juniata single-season record. Moshier became the first Eagle running back in history to rush for more than 1,000 yards in back-to-back seasons.

Moshier caps his career with his name covering the Juniata record book. He ranks first in rushing yards in a game (285), a season (1249) and is second in career rushing yards with 3,164. He also holds the Juniata record for receptions in a game with 15. He amassed 4,382 yards of total offense during his career, which leaves him third all-time in that category. He notched 113 receptions in his career, good for seventh in school history. He accounted for 202 points during his four seasons on College Hill, which leaves him fifth in Juniata history in that statistic. Finally, Moshier topped the 100-yard rushing mark 15 times during his career, the second-highest total in school history.

In his first season as the starting punter for Juniata, Leonard ranked third in the MAC with an average of 38.0 yards per punt. He punted 59 times on the season, with his kicks totaling 2,242 yards. He averaged better than 35 yards per punt in eight of Juniata?s 10 games. His best outing came against conference opponent Lebanon Valley when he drilled three punts for 149 yards, an average of 49.7 yards per punt. He also topped 40 yards per punt against Lycoming, when he boomed six punts with an average of 46 yards for each punt. He knocked out a pair of 59-yard punts on the season, one against Moravian, and one in the season finale against FDU-Florham. 12 times on the season he forced opponents to start drives inside their own 20-yard line.

Juniata finished the season with a record of 3-7 overall and 3-6 in MAC play. Juniata loses just nine players from the 2003 team.
