Juniata College Lineman Brown Named Academic All-America

Huntingdon, Pa. ?Junior P.J. Brown (Central Cambria/Ebensburg) has been selected to the 2003 Academic All-America College Division Football Second Team. He is the first Juniata player since 1991 to receive this award. Earlier in the season he was named to the CoSIDA District II Academic All-America College Division First Team, which made him eligible for this prestigious award.

Brown is in his third year with the Eagle?s squad. After working his first two seasons as a tight end, Brown made the transition this season to the offensive line. With Brown providing a push on the line, the Eagle?s ended their season ranked third in the Middle Atlantic Conference in rushing offense and sixth in the conference in total offense. Brown assisted the offense in gaining 207.6 yards rushing per game.

Juniata closed the season with 2,076 rushing yards, the second highest single-season total in school history. The Eagles compiled more than 300 yards of total offense in seven out of their 10 outings. They piled up more then 600 yards of offense in two contests this season.

In the classroom, Brown has a 3.972 cumulative grade point average with a program of emphasis in Biology. He is a member of HOSA (Health Occupation Students of America) and the National Biological Association. This award marks the seventh different award he has received as a student athlete.

Brown was one of five offensive lineman picked for the second team. The College Division consists of all NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA colleges.
