Status Codes

Dual Designated Courses
A course may doublecount to fulfill both a distribution and a skills requirement, and a course may triplecount to fulfill a distribution and a skills requirement and also count in the POE, but a course can not be used toward more than one distribution or more than one skills requirement. For example, RU 201 can count as either an international or a humanities class and also be used as a CW or CS, but RU 201 can not count as both I and H or as both CW and CS.

Communication Skills
A student must complete four "C" courses (minimum of 12 credits), two of which must be writing-based CW; and two of which may be speech-based CS. Two courses must be in the POE and at least one of those courses must be at the 300 level or above.

Quantitative Skills
To meet this requirement, students have three options (1) completion of a Q course; (2) completion of a QM (mathematics) course and completion of a QS (statistics) course; (3) qualifying grade on a proficiency exam. Q, QM, and QS courses may be included in the POE.

Cultural Analysis
If a cross listed course is taken to meet the Cultural Analysis II requirement the course must be listed as CA. For example, CA 315 fulfills the Cultural Analysis II requirement, AR 315 fulfills either a fine arts or an international requirement. It can not be double counted.

Applied Music
Three credits of any MU course/studio on the same instrument, voice or ensemble fulfill a Distribution requirement. An additional three hours on the same instrument or voice used in the initial Distribution requirement fulfill a complete Distribution requirement. We have allowed three credits of the same instrument and three credits of a different instrument to satisfy the distribution, but not in-depth. Six credit hours of the same instrument satisfies Fine Arts in-depth.
