Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of
1974
(otherwise known as The Buckley Amendment)
Juniata adheres to the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 as amended. In brief, the Act entitles parents of dependent students or eligible students the right to inspect and review the student's educational records. Parents of dependent students or eligible students have the right to contest inaccurate or misleading information in the records. The school must have written permission before releasing information from a student's record. ["Section 4.1 Disclosure of Educational Records Information-3.d, permits colleges to share educational records or components thereof without the written consent of students to "other school officials within the institution determined by the institution to have a legitimate educational interest (Chapter 5.3)."]
