Misc. Information from the Registrar

  1. According to the faculty minutes of 4/27/95 - Students can earn a BA in the Fine Arts/Humanities and for a BS in the Social Science, Natural Sciences, Math and Computer Science.
  2. For independent studies to receive a CW designation - the course must have 25% of the grade to be determined by one or more writing assignments that require multiple submissions to be reviewed and commented upon by the instructor.
  3. For independent studies to receive a CS designation - the course must have 25% of the grade to be determined by active student participation in two or more oral individual or group presentations. It also needs to fufill 2 other requirements which include an evaluation of the skills (listed in catalog) and that the first opportunity is evaluated for improvements in the second opportunity.
  4. When you repeat a course that you already received credit in, you must obtain the permission of the Registrar. Credit is not granted twice for the course; however, both grades (grade point values) are used to calculate the final grade point average. (CUM)
  5. Pre-Law, pre-vet, pre- anything is considered career tracks and should not be included in the Program of Emphasis Title.
  6. Internship paperwork must be initiated with the Career Services then completed, signed and delivered to the Registrar's Office. You are registered for a generic titled course wiht the Department Chair's name until this paperwork is filled out. The 490 course (2-9 credits) is the time spent on the job and the 495 course (2-6 credits) is the time spent working with the faculty.
  7. There is a 15-credit limit for an internship within the POE requirement.
  8. Waitlisting - Students are NOT automatically registered for a course if they are waitlisted. We still need the faculty permission to register you in to the class. Waitlist at Juniata is a way for faculty to see who is interested in the class and to make administrative decisions.
  9. Faculty who are signing in students into closed classes must also check if the student has the pre-requisites. We cannot distinguish between the two and will register the student.
