Studio Fine Art Concentration
Department: Art
The Studio Art experience at Juniata College is primarily a service curriculum for students majoring in other areas. A student thinking of creating a POE in the Studio Fine Arts must recognize that the small number of faculty cannot offer a program that is competitive with larger programs at other institutions. As has been true in the past, students may concentrate in the studio arts and combine that concentration with another discipline such as: Art and Art History, Art and Political History, Art and Psychology, Art and Literature, Art and Communications, Art and Music, etc. From time to time, the courses listed below will be supplemented with Special Topics courses at the 299 or 399 level. A person concentrating in the studio arts is encouraged to take his/her upper level courses as independent studies and/or in the form of an internship, semester at another institution, or a semester abroad. The concentration in Studio Art would require between 46 and 52 credit hours.
To acquire a balanced understanding of the Fine Arts, the following is a recommended selection of courses.
