To
provide year-round access to the station, as well as the regional
terrestrial and aquatic environments, the Field Station has
two 4-wheel drive vehicles, two john boats, a Boston Whaler,
a 26' pontoon boat, and a 36' houseboat rigged for limnological
studies. The station is well equipped with aquatic and terrestrial
sampling gear and analysis apparatus, including portable water
analysis kits, lap-top computers, aquatic samplers, live traps,
microscopes, forestry gear and a variety of other research
and educational tools. We also have installed a series of
ground water monitoring wells for hydrogeology field work
at the station. Furthermore, on the Juniata campus, we operate
a water analysis laboratory in conjunction with the Juniata
College Environmental Science and Studies Department. This
student run laboratory operates at EPA standards and is equipped
for a wide variety of testing protocols.
Lakeside
Center is also entirely wireless, with several laptop computers
and Tablet PCs that join with the main Juniata network in
Huntingdon. |
