Friends of the Raystown Field Station
Homecoming Weekend 2007
The Friends of the Field Station enjoyed apple butter making during Juniata College's 2007 Homecoming weekend. The apple butter making started off early Friday evening. Some Friends and Juniata students, who are enrolled in the Sense of Place semester, gathered at Grove Farm to get the fire roaring, the apple cider boiling, and the apples peeled.
The night was filled with adventures. People put thier talents to the test to successfully retrieve a set of keys which were accidentally locked on in a car. And later on, Clare Grove took eveyone on a journey through time as he recounted some of his childhood stories.
The next day, the fire continued to blaze. More visitors came out to join in the fun. The apples were added and with time the cider and apples boiled down to make delicious apple butter.
Apple butter making was once again a great success. We hope you can join us next year to make it even better!
