Life at the Raystown Field Station
Recreation
There is lots to do at the Raystown Field Station! In the fall you can enjoy canoeing (available at the station), kayaking (bring your own), swimming, fishing, hiking and mountain biking on select trails.

The field station is beautiful in winter time as well. With the leaves off the trees, the view of the lake is even more spectacular. Bald eagles are a common sight, and hiking is as good as in the summer. We also make maple syrup for several weeks each February to March - with lots of ways for students to get involved!

You don't have to spend all your time at the station (although you may want to!). Students are allowed vehicles and can leave the station whenever classes are not going on. You are also welcome to have guests visit you, with similar rules of number and duration to those on campus.

Unfortunately, you can't do everything at the station! There is no hunting or target practice on the station property for safety reasons. There is also no usage of powered off road vehicles, and you cannot bring powered watercraft (canoes and kayaks are welcome!)
