There are many opportunities for students and community members to volunteer at the Raystown Field Station. Listed below are some of the programs and activities in which you can participate. Contact the Field Station office for more information.
Friends of the Raystown Field Station - This organization of alumni and friends sponsors the Maple Sugaring program in the early spring, apple butter making in October, the summer speaker series at the Raystown Amphitheater and various work projects at the station. Field Station Ambassadors This Juniata student group provides tours of the station to prospective Juniata students and other interested parties.
The Environmental Science Society This Juniata student organization supports undergraduate research projects and special programs at the station including bird-banding training workshops. See thier web page for more information on their activities.
Members of Friends of the Raystown Field Station lift the Apple Butter kettle from the fire, during the annual October Homecoming event.
Americorps Bonner Leaders Program This campus based Americorps program provides volunteer coordinators and outreach organizers for various station activities including the Elementary School Animal Camp and Water Camp. Visit the program on the web for more details.
Juniata Sapsuckers This student organization works with alumni to run the annual maple sugaring program.
Outreach Program in Environmental Science – Juniata students and retired schoolteachers regularly volunteer their hours and expertise to assist with our Environmental Science Outreach program.
Junior Active Volunteers Association (JAVA) – This club functions as a resource for Huntingdon community human service agencies or non-profit organizations to coordinate fund-raisers or program events. JAVA organizes the Make a Difference Day each fall at the station.
