Ashley Appleman '07
Ashley graduated from Juniata in 2007 with a B.A. in English and a secondary emphasis in Communication. After graduation she served as an AmeriCorps Volunteer, organizing community and after school programs for the Columbus Housing Partnership in Ohio. In 2010 she completed a M.A. in Student Affairs in Higher Education from Wright State University. She then spent six years managing educational programs for the Southwestern Ohio Council for Higher Education (SOCHE). In 2016, Ashley moved back to the East Coast to manage training for ABET, a non-profit organization that accredits college and university programs in the disciplines of applied and natural science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology. In addition, she is working to complete a post-baccalaureate certificate in Instructional Systems Development from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.
Ashley currently resides in Baltimore, Maryland where she is active with the Baltimore Road Runners Club. In her spare time she can be found training for her next marathon, walking along the harbor with her dog, and exploring historic places in the region. Contact Ashley by email.
Jigar Patel '08
Jigar graduated from Juniata in 2008 with a B.A. in Study of Digital Technologies and Politics. He then attended Birmingham City University in Birmingham, England where he along with 10 of his graduate colleagues were the first to receive a Masters of Arts in Social Media. His expertise lies in Civic engagement and participation using Social Media in small communities. Jigar currently works as an Instructional Media & Communication Specialist for the Tuscarora Intermediate Unit. In his role at IU11, he primarily works on interactive design aspects of course development as well as web development for various state agencies within the PA Department of Public Welfare. Annette Reeder Bair '93
Annette graduated from Juniata in 1993 with a B.A. in Business Management and French. She currently works for TE Connectivity (formerly known as AMP Incorporated) with headquarters in Harrisburg, PA as a finance manager in the Distribution Channel organization. In this role, she is responsible for managing the processing and publication of global distributor sales and inventory data for reporting and analysis. Annette earned her M.B.A. from Lebanon Valley College in 2000.
In addition to Alumni Council, Annette has been active in the Central Pennsylvania Alumni Juniata Club as a member of the leadership team. Shane Gallagher '10
Shane graduated from Juniata in 2010 with a B.S. in Information Technology and a secondary emphasis in Management.
He currently works for Deloitte Consulting LLP as a Sales Force Effectiveness Senior Consultant as part of Deloitte's Human Capital practice. In this role, Shane leads cross-cultural, geographically distributed teams in technology implementation projects which support organizations’ sales functions in reaching their full potential. Shane earned his M.B.A. from Shippensburg University of Pennsylvania in 2015. Residing in Harrisburg, PA, Shane has been active in the Central Pennsylvania Juniata Alumni Juniata Club, having served as the club's president. Timothy Gill '08
Tim received his B.S. in Biology from Juniata in 2008. Since graduation, he has worked in various positions at PSEG Power in New Jersey. He currently manages a group that monitors and tests for air pollutants at PSEG’s fossil fuel power plants.
Tim lives in Hoboken, NJ where he is pursuing an M.B.A. at Stevens Institute of Technology. Outside of work and school, he's home brewing beer with his dad and brothers. Together, they opened Wissahickon Brewing Company, a small brewery in Philadelphia. Contact Tim by email.
Elise Mihranian '14
Elise graduated from Juniata in 2014 with a B.A. in International Business Communications. Her accomplishments at Juniata include winning the Bailey Oratorical in 2012, winning the JCEL Business Pitch Competition in 2014, and winning Juniata’s Outstanding Student of the Year Award in 2012 and 2014. In her early career, Elise worked at KYW Newsradio in Philadelphia, TechAmerica in Washington D.C., and Dreams Resort in Punta Cana. Elise is currently employed at TE Connectivity in Berwyn, Pennsylvania as an HR Organizational Development Specialist. Her primary responsibilities include managing change initiatives through planning, communication, training, and stakeholder analysis. She also serves as a Inclusion & Diversity advocate at her company and leads a number of initiatives to connect, empower, and advance women at TE. Roxann (Binner) Yon '84
Roxann (Binner) Yon graduated from Juniata in 1984 with a B.S. in Mathematics and Computer Science, having also completed the requirements for a secondary education certificate. She taught computer programming and geometry for two years in Hershey, Pa. before returning to Huntingdon to work for Swigart Associates, now Mutual Benefit Group, as a Senior Programmer/Analyst. Roxann taught a class at Juniata in the spring of '13. In her free time, she enjoys singing in the choir at the Stone Church of the Brethren, volunteering for various church committees, camping, and reading. She serves as the Class Fund Agent for the amazing Class of 1984 and has served on reunion planning committees. Lee Abramovitz ’89 is a Certified Financial Planner with Abramovitz Wealth Management. Paul Berry '05
As an undergraduate from 2001-2005, Paul was a dual sport athlete, participating in both football and baseball while studying Natural and Social Sciences. Currently, Mr. Berry is the Director of Strength and Conditioning at the National Cathedral School (NCS) in Washington, DC. He began this role in 2006, but left NCS in 2009 to earn a master’s degree in exercise science at the George Washington University (GW) Milken Institute School of Public Health .Following his graduation in 2012, Paul served as the Assistant Strength and Conditioning Coach at GW. In this capacity, he developed programming for the baseball, men’s rowing, volleyball and women’s basketball teams. In 2013, he returned to NCS where his wife, of five years, is an English teacher. Mr. Berry takes pride in encouraging his students, faculty, and staff to make fitness a part of their daily lifestyle by teaching exercise science courses and providing health and wellness programming. Gabriel Castro '12
Gabriel (Gabe) Castro graduated in 2012 with a B.S. in Finance. Gabe had multiple experiences as a student ranging from representing his class as the student representative to the Board of Trustees Investment Committee to working in the Enrollment Office providing tours for prospective students. Some of Gabe’s notable accomplishments include an internship experience at the Internal Revenue Service, as head portfolio manager for the Eagle Fund, and being the recipient of a Goodman Fellowship alongside Dr. Bradley Andrew to research investment management strategies for individuals and endowments. Since graduation Gabe has moved to the greater Philadelphia area to work for The Vanguard Group. Gabe has held a number of roles at Vanguard from participating in the Vanguard Accelerated Development Program, a 16-month rotational program focusing on investment management and leadership, to leading a team of investment analysts in the company’s Corporate Governance Group.

Douglas Eadline '79
Doug graduated from Juniata in 1979 with a B.S. in Chemistry. His education continued at Lehigh University where in 1984 he earned a Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry. At the end of a one year post doctoral position at Lehigh, he moved slightly east and became an assistant professor of Chemistry at Seton Hall University in South Orange, NJ. After three years of teaching chemistry and doing research, Doug decided to start a company that focused on high performance computing (HPC). In 2003, he shifted gears again and became editor-in-chief of Clusterworld Magazine (a technical HPC publication). His four year tenure in the publishing industry helped set his present trajectory as an entrepreneur, author, and consultant to the HPC and Big Data Analytics markets. He has also served as trustee for The ManKind Project, a global network of non-profit charitable and educational organizations that promotes men in leading meaningful lives of integrity, accountability, responsibility, and emotional intelligence.

Michael Ford '82
Mike received his B.A. in Communications from Juniata in 1982. He has spent the bulk of his career working with youth and young adults as an Admissions Counselor at Ursinus College, a Program Director at Camp Hebron, and a Youth Pastor in the Mennonite Church, which is his present occupation. One of his most fortunate moments vocationally was when he returned to Juniata to work in the fall of 1988 as a Resident Director in Cloister. Thinking it was a short term respite between vocational direction changes, he stayed four years as the Director of Internships and Business Outreach, and more significantly, met and married his wife Valerie, ’90.
While a student, Mike played football, sang in the choir, acted in several theatre productions, was a disc jockey, RA, and served on the campus ministry board. Mike is proud to say that he still wears a T-shirt he won playing intermural sports at JC.

Joy Hadley '84
Joy received a B.S. in Political Science at Juniata and a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from Penn State University. She began her professional career as a Presidential Management Fellow at the U.S. Department of Housing & Urban Development. Joy has spent her entire career in federal service at HUD. She is a member of the Senior Executive Service and currently is responsible for risk management operations and compliance strategy for HUD’s Federal Housing Administration single family mortgage insurance portfolio. Stephanie Haines '92
Stephanie received her B.A in Political Science / History from Juniata in 1992, and a J.D. from Ohio Northern University College of Law in 1995. After graduation from law school, she had a one-year judicial clerkship and then served 6 years active duty in the U.S. Army JAG Corps with assignments at the 101st Airborne Division at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, and in Washington, D.C. In 2002, she left her active duty JAG position to take a job with the Department of Justice and has worked for the Department for the past 13 years as a federal prosecutor, currently serving as an Assistant United States Attorney in the United States Attorney’s Office in the Western District of Pennsylvania, in Johnstown, PA. She has also stayed in the military in a reserve capacity as a JAG attorney and is now with the U.S. Air Force. She currently serves as a reservist JAG attorney for the West Virginia Air National Guard, Charleston West Virginia, and is currently enrolled in Air War College to obtain the rank of O-6 Colonel. Michael Kenawell '99
Mike graduated from Juniata in 1999 with a B.S. in Zoology. He then attended Morehead State University in Morehead, Kentucky where he earned his Master's Degree in Environmental Science. He began his career working for a small civil engineering firm as an environmental scientist in Lexington, Kentucky. After five years in Kentucky, he returned to his home state of Pennsylvania where he joined the firm of Johnson, Mirmiran, and Thompson. Mike currently serves as an Environmental Manager and oversees the firm's environmental practice for the Pennsylvania region.
Mike currently resides in York Haven, Pennsylvania with his wife, Andrea (Class of '99) and two children, Allison and Aaron. Mike is active in the Pennsylvania Association of Environmental Professionals (PAEP) and the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC). Russell Miller '90
Russ graduated Juniata in 1990 with a B.S. in Biology with an emphasis on Fine Arts and Classics. He then earned his Medical Doctorate from Penn State College of Medicine, Hershey in 1994. After completing his Residency in Family Medicine at Conemaugh Memorial in 1997, he opened practice in his hometown of Patton, Pa. Of greater significance, 1997 was also the year he married his wife, Lori Kosicki. After four years of being an employed physician, Russ decided to strike out on his own and become a self- employed family physician and has been since July 14, 2001.
In 2007, Russ was named a Fellow of the American Academy of Family Physicians. Committed to educating future health care professionals and dedicated to rural healthcare, Russ was recognized in 2004 by the AAFP with the Pfizer Teaching Award and in 2011 as a Rural Health Hero by the Pennsylvania Office of Rural Health.
Currently, as well as maintaining his Family Medical Practice, Russ sits on the Cambria Heights School District Board of Directors, and is Adjunct Faculty at St. Francis University instructing in the Master of Cancer Care program. Russ cultivates eclectic hobbies including playing bagpipes and Celtic harp, study of herbal medicine, West African Drumming and gardening. Marion (Kercher) Oliver '64
Marion graduated from Juniata College in 1964 with a B.A. in Elementary Education and a minor in Spanish. She taught sixth and eighth grades in Middlesex Borough, NJ, at Von E. Mauger Middle School for four years prior to the births of sons David and Matthew. During the next ten years of being a stay-at-home mom, she completed a Certificate in Early Childhood Education and an MA in Curriculum and Instruction at Kean University and taught preschool. In 1978, she returned to Mauger School and taught another 21 years, teaching eighth grade Language Arts and Academically Talented classes. She retired in 1999. She is married to Dave Oliver, Juniata class of '63. Son David and wife Lisa live in Metchen, NJ, while son Matthew and wife Dana live in Basking Ridge, NJ. Grandson, Austin is a sophomore at NYU, and granddaughter, Madeleine is a senior in high school.
Marion is an active member of the Bound Brook Presbyterian Church, having served as a Deacon and an Elder. Currently she sings in the choir, knits Prayer Shawls, prepares meals for the Hospitality program and supervises a book discussion group. She has served on the local Library Board and enjoys traveling, knitting, reading, walking and keeping in touch with high school and college friends. Debra Reidy '10
Debbie graduated from Juniata in 2010 with a B.A. in International Business and secondary emphasis in Spanish. After graduation, Debbie moved to Boston, MA to pursue a career in hospitality with Starwood Hotels and Resorts. In 2015, Debbie relocated to the Washington, DC metro area and currently works for Interstate Hotels and Resorts. Debbie has been active in the JC-DC Regional Club as a member of the leadership team. Gregory Schmidt '77
Greg was awarded his BA in Personnel & Labor Relations. He was employed by Princeton, Auburn, Florida A&M, and The George Washington universities in research administration. Greg was a contract administrator for Continental Shelf Associates/CSA Marine Services and is now with the National Association of State Mental Health Program Directors. He was the Senior Financial Services Consultant for Datatel (now Ellucian) where he trained, advised, and implemented financial systems for universities across the US and Canada. Greg was also on the project that created Grants.Gov and created the industry Electronic Research Administration. Rounida Shwaish '15
Rounida Shwaish graduated from Juniata College with a B.S. in Applied Sociology. As a student she participated in the PLEXUS Peer Mentoring Program and UMOJA. Rounida worked as the Juniata Associate at the Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion and served on the college's Bias Response Team and Diversity Committee. In 2015 Rounida was the runner up in the JCEL Business Pitch Competition and received the Unsung Hero Award for her campus activism.
Juniata she returned to her hometown of Pittsburgh to work for the ACLU as their Program Coordinator. She is deeply committed to social justice, racial justice, and education reform. At the ACLU, she coordinated public education and community outreach activities, participated in volunteer and speaker recruitment and member engagement efforts, and supported and assisted Pittsburgh Chapter Board and Committees. Currently Shwaish is the Community Organizer for Lawrenceville United, a resident driven community development organization. In her role she worked to strengthen and support neighborhood schools and build family and community engagement around education. Diane (Morrow) Snider '79
Diane (Morrow) Snider graduated from Juniata in 1979 with a B.S. in Social Work and Spanish. After graduation, she worked as Director of Social Services at Green Ridge Village retirement community in Newville, PA. She and her husband, Jeff ’80, then moved to the Philadelphia area where Diane was Director of Social Services for two Central Park Lodge nursing homes, Chestnut Hill and Whitemarsh, and then with Plymouth House in Plymouth Meeting, PA. She later transitioned to hospital social work and discharge planning with a position at Sacred Heart Hospital in Norristown, PA. In 1995, the Sniders moved to the northwestern New Jersey town of Sparta and Diane began a new career as a Mary Kay cosmetics consultant and eventually became Sales Director.
Diane has been active through the years in a variety of volunteer positions including animal rescue and support for deployed service members through America's Mighty Warriors and Soldiers' Angels, where she earned the Angel of the Year award in 2012. She has also been a class fund agent for Juniata's class of '79.

Christopher Bair '92
Christopher Bair is Managing Director at Deloitte Consulting, a position in which he leads, manages, and coordinates systems analysis, development, and maintenance & operations activities across multiple initiatives and direct teams in areas including planning and scheduling, technical direction, system development life cycle and project management practices. Some his recent projects include systems integration and custom application development initiatives for state government organizations in Georgia, Florida, South Dakota, Pennsylvania, and California.
Mr. Bair is a former member of the leadership team of the Central PA Alumni Club. Currently, he serves as a class fund agent, volunteers with the Juniata Career Team and Juniata Admissions Ambassadors, is a current member of the IT Advisory Board, and has served on Alumni Council from 2010-2016, filling the roles of vice president, president and past president. He is also a member of the Heritage Circle. Mr. Bair earned his bachelor’s degree in in computer science and business management from Juniata in 1992. He also earned a master’s of business administration from Lebanon Valley College in 2000 and has been a certified Project Management Professional (PMP) since 2004. Tracy (Stough) Grajewski '86
Tracy Grajewski, a 1986 Juniata graduate and a native of Greensburg, Pa., recently started her own human resources consulting firm, Laurel Summit Insights LLC in the greater Pittsburgh area, and has had a successful career as a human resources executive from nearly the beginning of her work life.
Before starting her company, she was senior vice president of human resources operations for Highmark, one of the nation’s leading health and wellness companies, from 2014 to 2015 and again from 2010 to 2013. In between her stints at Highmark, she was a partner in the consulting firm Mercer from 2013 to 2014.
From 2006 to 2010, she was senior director for human resources in the manufacturing division for Merck, based in Whitehouse Station, N.J. She started her career at Merck, one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world, in 1997 as employment and placement manager. She became director of workforce programs in 1999 and was promoted to senior director of corporate staffing in 2002.
She began her business career in 1986 with Meridian Bank, in Reading, Pa., as cash management sales representative. After working as a management trainee supervisor and college recruiting coordinator, she was promoted to assistant vice president for HR programs in 1992. From 1995 to 1996, Grajewski was vice president and manager of recruiting for the bank and became vice president for human resources in 1996.
At Juniata, Grajewski earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing and Spanish. She went on to earn a master’s degree in business administration in 1992 from Syracuse University, specializing in human resources.
She has remained active in her community, serving on the advisory board for the Silk Screen Asian Film Festival in Pittsburgh and on the board of directors for Family Resources in Pittsburgh. Grajewski also is a member of the Society for Human Resources Management. Parisha Shah '01
Parisha is a Senior Research Investigator at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, Department of Cardiology. Prior to this appointment, she was a postdoctoral researcher in the Cell and Developmental Biology Department and Epigenetics Program at Penn. Parisha’s research is focused on epigenetics and nuclear organization during development – that is, understanding how DNA is organized within a cell and how this organization impacts the way a cell can divide and control its fate. In addition to research, Parisha teaches courses at Penn and actively participates in public science education outreach.
Parisha holds a Ph.D. from The University of Chicago in Molecular Genetics and Cell Biology and a B.S. from Juniata College in Molecular Biology and Communication. At Juniata, Parisha was chair of Juniata Activities Board, head tutor at the Writing Center, a Student Ambassador, a campus tour guide, and a proud and committed lab nerd. As an alum, Parisha participates in the Delaware Valley Juniata Club and has previously served on Alumni Council, including service as president of the Alumni Association.
Parisha is married to Dimitri Islam, Esq., Associate Director for Student Development at University of Pennsylvania Law School. Parisha and Dimitri live in Philadelphia, where they met after having trained at the same academic institutions for nearly a decade without any knowledge of each other.
