When you arrive on campus for the weekend, stop by Registration in the lobby of Ellis Hall to pick up the final schedule of events and locations.

Juniata Together Virtual 5k

Anywhere
Choose your own route outside or hop on a treadmill and run, jog, or walk a 5k (3.1 miles) to complete the race. If you choose that option, each participant will receive a commemorative e-race bib and a t-shirt.  Your registration fee will go directly toward supporting Juniata students. Use the 2022 Juniata Virtual 5K registration link to sign up for this event.

These self-guided adventures include hiking the Thousand Steps, exploring the Peace Chapel, walking and biking on the Rails to Trails, and mountain biking on the Allegrippis Trails. All fitness and experience levels can be accommodated through one of these activities. Activities should be able to be completed in approximately two hours or less. For more info, click here.

Calling all first-year students interested in studying abroad! Attend the session to find out if you qualify for the IIE Passport Program. The program supports first year Pell eligible students who want to apply for a passport and covers the $165 cost. Please contact studyabroad@juniata.edu with any questions.

Walk It, Talk It: Language Learning with Alumni and Students

Depart from the Global Commons, Tussey-Terrace Residence Hall
Join Professors Josiane Banini (French), Henry Thurston-Griswold (Spanish), Carlos Sánchez (Spanish), Amy Frazier-Yoder (Spanish), Elliot Hirshon (English for Academic Purposes), and Jou Li (Chinese) and students of Spanish, French, and Chinese as we set out from the Global Village and walk in language interest groups.  We will walk some of the Flagpole Hill trails, stopping at the Peace Chapel for a language-based gratitude activity. You can switch groups as you go.  Which language group(s) will you chat and walk with?  Participants should wear sturdy shoes that are good for the trails. We'll be returning at 4:30 depending on the group's walking speed.

Zumba with Professor Li Shen
3:30 - 4:30 p.m.
Movement Studio, Halbritter Center for the Performing Arts*
Join Professor Li Shen, Zumba instructor and party DJ, for a fun exercise class. No experience is necessary. Space is limited to 15 participants. Zumba combines aerobic dances, muscle toning, light weightlifting, abs, planking, sit-ups, and stretching. As a reminder, you have to wear sneakers for safety purposes. *Please note that there is a class in the Movement Studio before Zumba, so participants are instructed to wait in the hallway until classes let out.

Eagles After Dark Tie Blankets and Tie Dye Items: A JAB-Sponsored Family-Friendly Event

Rain Location: Ellis Ballroom
Join the Juniata Activities Board for a night of making a blue and gold tie blanket or tie dying an item of your choice, while enjoying some snacks and refreshments. There will be materials to make tie blankets and some items to tie dye available. Feel free to bring an item with you if you have something in mind for tie dye. Activities: Celebrate all things math! There will be Tessellations, Origami, Seek and Find activities for all ages.
Exhibit:
Mathemalchemy is a room-sized math and art installation developed by the Duke math professor Ingrid Daubechies in collaboration with fiber artist Dominique Ehrmann and a team of 24 artistic mathematicians and mathematical artists, including Juniata College math professor Kim Roth. Mathemalchemy takes the “common substance” of math and transforms it into a creative endeavor, a vehicle for exploring the world and generating innovative responses to it.

EcoHouse’s Walk with the Wildflowers

Join Dr. Norris Muth and the residents of EcoHouse LLC to learn about the native wildflowers blooming on campus. The tour will begin on the front steps of Ellis Hall, and a route will be chosen based on the interests of the group. Interesting sites include the Muddy Run riparian buffer, EcoHouse’s pollinator garden, the cliffs, and the Peace Chapel.
