Delaware Valley Alumni Club Day at the NJ Shore

The Delaware Valley Alumni Club returned to the shoreline in New Jersey on Saturday, September 23, as Ron ’77 and Elaine Seiler opened their beach house to Juniata College alumni, family and friends once again. Guests started to arrive at 9:00 a.m. and spent time walking and sitting on the beach, walking and shopping on the board walk, eating, drinking, and, most importantly, visiting and sharing JC stories together.
At 5:00 p.m. the group gathered for dinner. Ron and Elaine supplied the roast beef sandwiches, drinks and numerous munchies throughout the day, while everyone in attendance brought a dish to share, including dessert! Needless to say, there was more than enough food to go around and plenty of conversation to keep everyone entertained.
Later in the day, Sue (Delaney) Combs ’92 and her family arrived and brought pepperoni bread that everybody had to try (no matter how full they were at the time). In addition to the 24 (covering the decades of the 50s, 60s, 70s, 80s and 90s) who signed up saying that they could come to the event, Muriel (Rudolph) Stoops ’58 was spending the weekend at the shore with her family and stopped by to extend her greetings to those in attendance.
Shortly before 7:00 p.m. the group adjourned to the rooftop deck (drink in hand) to watch the sunset (as is tradition at the Seiler beach house event). Although there were plenty of clouds in the sky, Ron declared the sun officially set shortly after 7:00.
Special thanks to Ron and Elaine for organizing and hosting this event!
