The final Florida alumni event in February took place in Naples on February 8. The largest group of the Sunshine Swing gathered during the late-afternoon hours at Moorings Beach Park Chickee for beverages, appetizers, pizza and dessert. In addition, those in attendance were engaged in conversation and story-telling before getting the opportunity to view a spectacular and colorful sunset over the Gulf of Mexico. The private park is located just off the beach that leads down to the enticing gulf waters.
A total of 36 alumni, family and friends gathered for the event which concluded at dusk. The decades of the 1930s, 1950s, 1960s and 1990s were represented in southwestern Florida, including Charles Goodale, a member of the Class of 1939. Overall, there were 12 Juniatians from the decade of the 50s. Keith Birmingham ’56 and his wife Peg and Don Pheasant ’56 and his wife Marge served as the organizers, hosts and sponsors for the outing, while others in attendance brought a dish to pass, including Goodale and his wife Pat, who brought delicious chicken wings.
Director of Planned Giving Kim Kitchen and Director of Alumni Relations Bub Parker ’91 were on hand to mingle with the group and answer questions on the latest College Hill happenings.
