JC-DC Alumni Club Picnic by the Bay

For the fourth consecutive summer, Jodie Monger '88, Mark and Emily Gray opened up their home on the Northeast River (which leads to the Chesapeake Bay) for a Juniata College alumni event. A total of 43 alumni, family and friends traveled to the beach house in Perryville, Maryland for a wonderful day of Juniata socializing by the water with lots of relaxing, boat touring, story sharing, swimming, good food and great times.
Upon arrival, guests, who all brought a dish to pass, were invited to tour the area via the pontoon boat with Jim Monger (Jodie’s father) at the wheel. Those in attendance took advantage of the site-seeing option before and after lunch on the picture-perfect summer day. In between the rides, Stan Butler ’63 was kind enough to bring his self-brewed beer – two different beers with one named “blue” and the other “gold”. In a taste test by all in attendance, the gold beer was selected as the favorite of this year’s crowd.
Director of Alumni Relations, Bub Parker ’91, briefly addressed the group and thanked everyone for attending and formally thanked the Gray family for their generosity. David Corman ’77, President of the JC-DC club presented Jodie and Mark a citation for their loyalty to the JC-DC club and thanked the family on behalf of the organization.
In addition, Doug Bugel ’73 brought peaches along to the event and turned his treasure into everyone else’s by serving peach short cake for dessert following dinner. To bring the event to a close, Chris Davidson ’76 put on a firework display that entertained the adults and the children alike. Also assisting in the hosting of the event were Jodie’s mother (Judy) and sister (Janice).
Alumni from the 1940s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s and 2000s were on hand for the event and everyone had a wonderful time!
Special thanks goes to Jodie, Mark, Emily and the entire Monger family for opening up their "get away" home to entertain and host everyone in attendance!
Thank you to everyone who attended this wonderful event! Let us know what you thought of it by submitting a Past Event Evaluation.
