JC-DC Picnic by the Bay

For the fifth consecutive summer, Jodie Monger '88, Mark and Emily Gray hosted the Picnic by the Bay. This year’s picnic brought some new and exciting changes – a new location, theme and emphasis on including current students and their parents. A total of 54 alumni, family and friends traveled to Kent Island, Maryland for a wonderful day of Juniata socializing by the water with lots of relaxing, boat touring, story sharing, swimming, good food and great times.
Upon arrival, guests, who all brought a dish to share, found an array of delicious home-made goodies and enjoyed the main course that you would expect at a “pig roast” picnic. Those in attendance took advantage of the site-seeing on the pontoon boat after lunch during the picture-perfect summer day. Others had a friendly, yet competitive, match of Yahtzee or rediscovered their inner-child in the inflatable bouncer. Stan Butler ’63 was kind enough to bring his self-brewed beer – six different varieties including some named in honor of Juniata.
The Juniata family representing the decades of the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, 1980s, 1990s, 2000s and 2010s were on hand for the event.
Special thanks to Jodie (Monger) Gray '88 for hosting this event!
