Lions and Tigers and Bears….and so much more!
The NY-NJ Metro Alumni Club made the Bronx Zoo its latest stop on the regional event trail and there is little doubt left in anyone who attended that it is one of the greatest zoos in America.
A total of 23 Juniata alumni, family and friends gathered on Sunday, October 7 to check out the Wild Asia Monorail and saw elephants, rhinos, Mongolian wild horses, and Indochinese tigers roaming in open, outdoor habitats. Stops were also made at Jungle World and the Asia plaza before the group hopped on the Skyfari to return to the Dancing Crane Café for lunch together. Following lunch, individuals and families explored the rest of the zoo throughout the afternoon at their own pace. With the zoo closing time of 5:30 and SO MUCH to see, there was plenty of hustling to get around taking it all in. Tiger Mountain, the World of Reptiles, the Monkey House and African Plains were highlights of the day as well.
The outing attracted alumni from the 1980s, 1990s and 2000s as well as their families and friends.
Next up for the NY-NJ Metro Club is the Military Tattoo - Bagpipe Festival and Picnic in West Point, N.Y., on April 27th. Mark your calendar!
