Following a memorable spring break tour of the Caribbean country Trinidad, the 51-member Concert Choir returned home to Rosenberger Auditorium in the Halbritter Center for the Performing Arts to perform for their most loyal audience, the Juniata College community.
The concert featured internationally-flavored songs from areas spanning the globe including Hungary, Haiti and Brazil. During the concert conductor Russell Shelley, Elma Stine Heckler Associate Professor of Music, honored Dex and Susan Meadows, parents of choir alumni David ’98, Virginia ’03 and Michael ’07, who have attend thirteen consecutive Homecoming Concerts.
At the close of the concert, the choir affinity group invited choir alumni, current choir members, parents and family members to join them for a reception in the Suzanne von Liebig Theatre. Homemade goodies and pleasant conversation enticed party-goers to visit late into the evening.
Plans for the 75th Anniversary Choir Reunion were announced by Russ Shelley and co-chairpersons, Randy Kochel ’79 and Sean Waddle ’04. Not only will there be more opportunities to spend time with each other, the weekend will highlight a gala concert featuring musical selections voted on by the choir. The festivities take place on June 8-9, 2007 during Alumni Weekend.
The decades of 1960’s, 70’s, 80’s, 90’s and 2000 were represented at this event which drew over 100 alumni, family members and friends.
Special thanks to the Choir Affinity Group, especially Professor Betty Ann Cherry, Dave Molchany '83, Chris (Weber) Hartman '00, and Jodie Reiter '04, for organizing this event!
