Alumni Weekend 2006 was well-attended and incredibly memorable for those who journeyed back to Juniata College. Intermittent downpours didn’t dampen spirits and couldn’t keep participants from enjoying outside activities such as the annual golf outing, campus tours and tethered balloon flights.

More than 535 alumni, family and friends took part in the weekend, celebrating reunion classes from ’56, ’61, ’66, ’71, ’76, ’81, ’86, ’91 and Emeriti (1955 and lower). There were also many non-reunion alumni on campus. The Class of 1956 redefined success for its 50th with almost 60 members returning and having raised a record-setting $125,000 to name the new Founders Hall porch as their Class Gift.

Festivities included the Alumni College, Friday’s All-Class Dinner during which Barry Drexler ’56 delivered the message, individual Class Dinners on Saturday and the Alumni Assembly recognizing reunion classes and honoring five alumni for their service and achievements (Miriam Smith Wetzel ’52 - Alumni Achievement Award, Jodie Monger Gray ’88 - Harold B. Brumbaugh ’33 Alumni Service Award, Erin D. Sheets ’91 - Young Alumni Achievement Award, Kenneth J. Van Antwerp ’75 - William E. Swigart, Jr. ’37 Humanitarian Award and Randy L. Kochel ’79 – Health Professions Alumni Appreciation Award).

Thank you to all of the volunteers from each class and all of the Juniata College staff who volunteered their time to help make Alumni Weekend memorable.

A special thanks to all the alumni who traveled back to campus to take part in this special event. Please let us know what you thought of the weekend by completing the Alumni Weekend Evaluation Form.
