Central Pennsylvania (CPA) Alumni Club
Annual Golf Outing at Dauphin Highlands
Harrisburg, PA
August 16, 2005

The annual Central Pennsylvania Alumni Club golf tournament was held at Dauphin Highlands Golf Course in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania for the fourth straight year. For the first time in the history of the event being held at Dauphin Highlands, Mother Nature did not cooperate. Although all of the golfers in attendance took to the course with hopes of a break in the rain system that was moving through the area. Unfortunately, the rain fell during the entire round, making scoring conditions difficult, but not impossible.

A total of 26 golfers came out to participate in the scramble format (aka. captain and crew), and when the dust settled a seven-under 65 fired by the threesome of Jason Moore '00, Brook Williams '99 and Andy Herre turned out to be the winning score. It marked the first year that the "youngsters" won outing. Jack Cameron '68, Terry Cameron '65, Andy Cameron '92 and Daniel Cameron '94 posted a 66 (six under) to place second, while Frank Pote '73, Corey Pote '83, Greg Gruber '75 and Bub Parker '91 took third with their 67 (five under).

Richard Miller won the long drive competition for the men, while no one earned the women's long drive crown. In addition, Jack Cameron was the closest to the pin on the par-3, fourth hole, and Parker knocked one the tightest on the par-3, 17th.

Following golf, there was the ever-popular chicken and ribs bar-b-que dinner held at the pub in the clubhouse and four non-golfers joined up with the event to set the grand total at 30 for the day. Decades of the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and 00's were all represented at Dauphin Highlands. An informal awards ceremony, including door prizes followed dinner and the group was also addressed by Tom Kepple, President of the College.

Corey Pote also spoke about the annual Alumni Travel event to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, which will take place on March 12-16, 2005. A trip that includes four nights stay at Long Bay Resort, four rounds of golf on surcharge course with cart and breakfast for four mornings. There will be more details, along with a reservation form, posted on the Juniata alumni web site soon. Dan O'Sullivan '64 also spoke on behalf of the CPA group and mentioned the upcoming events in the area.

In addition, the Cameron family (Terry '65, Jack '68, Andy '92 and Dan '94) donated golf balls that were given away as a door prize. Thank you to the Cameron family for making the day that much more special.

Thank you to everyone who helped to make the day a success and the wonderful staff at Dauphin Highlands.
