Monday, January 27, 2020: College officials met to discuss Coronavirus outbreak. Communication from the provost was sent:

Juniata College has been tracking information on the coronavirus, termed “2019-nCoV,” first identified in Wuhan, Hubei Province, China.

There are no confirmed cases of coronavirus on the Juniata campus. There are currently no confirmed cases of coronavirus in Pennsylvania. CIE, Health Center, and other relevant campus offices will take every precaution to prepare the campus to respond to the potential for the presence of coronavirus.  At the time of this writing, there have been five confirmed cases in the U.S. in four states (AZ, CA, IL, WA) from travelers from Wuhan.  Those individuals are being treated.  Other suspected cases are undergoing evaluation. 

The coronavirus symptoms can be similar to flu-like symptoms.  Should you experience flu-like symptoms, immediately contact a health care provider for an evaluation.  As with any illness, take precautions to minimize your contact with others until you can be evaluated by a health care provider.  

As the situation is developing, you are encouraged to check updates at the Center for Disease Control,  the World Health Organization, and the Pa. Department of Health.
