We are extending the deadline for you to determine whether you would like to take a course p/np. Returning students will have until after the semester is ended to make your decisions. Graduating seniors are encouraged to let the Registrar know by April 30th if you would like any courses to be graded p/np so that we can ensure your timely graduation and recognition of any honors.

There is not a limit on how many courses can be taken p/np this semester. And your instructors will not know whether you are electing to take a course p/np; they will submit letter grades for you as always. A few courses remain exempt from this policy. They are available here as is all other pertinent information about requesting p/np in lieu of letter grades: https://www.juniata.edu/registrar/pass-no-pass.php.

Dawn Scialabba, Acting Registrar and Coordinator of Academic Advising, can be reached atscialad@juniata.edu. She can answer any questions you have about how to request that any of your courses be graded p/np.

I would encourage you to consult with your advisors as you make these decisions. We don’t yet have guidance on whether professional and graduate schools will accept grades of P/passing, and I want to be sure you have good counsel and advice as you choose.

Your faculty are deeply committed to your success and well-being. They have been remarkable these past ten days as they have prepared for remote instruction and have expressed concern about how best to support you. We have enacted this temporary shift in policy to help alleviate any stress you may be experiencing with regard to your academic performance this semester and to create opportunities for you to be as successful as possible under these circumstances. I hope this news makes it easier for you to study while under duress. Our goal remains providing you with a meaningful academic experience that will prepare you for what comes next whether it’s graduation or a return to Juniata this fall.
