Lois M. (Crouse) Teeter ’45 relocated from Montana to Hawaii where she enjoys puzzle books, among other activities. She thought of her alma mater when she noticed Juniata listed with 25 other small colleges in a page of her current puzzle books.

Joseph V. Collins ’60 was elected First Vice President of the Maryland Association of Hospital Auxiliaries (MAHA). He is also First Vice President and immediate Past President of the Frederick Health Auxiliary and former member of the Frederick Health Hospital Board of Directors. Joe is Executive Director of the Nancy Collins Memorial Cancer Foundation and a walking tour guide with Heritage Frederick.

1970
Aubrey L. Shenk ’70 retired after 10 years as head coach of the men’s and women’s cross-country and track and field programs at Gettysburg College. A cross-country and track and field athlete at Juniata, Aubrey became a licensed psychologist in private practice, began his coaching career in 1984 as a part-time assistant, and spent 36 years coaching the Bullets. Gettysburg’s annual home cross-country meet has been named the “Aubrey Shenk Cross Country Invitational.”
Scott R. Taylor published two books. “Seasons of Prayer” is a collection of pastoral prayers and "Sermons Together” is a selection of sermons.
1975
Michael J. Grissinger ’75 was appointed Independent Chair of KiRA Biotech’s Board of Directors. Retired Vice President for Business Development at Johnson & Johnson, Mike had a highly successful career with various global pharmaceutical companies. KiRA’s mission is to bring new treatment options to patients with autoimmune and inflammatory conditions.

(PHOTO) Jeffrey J. Wood ’76 was sporting his blue and gold pride at a recent visit to the Panama Canal. He bought his Juniata T-shirt specifically for the trip, which sparked conversation about the College.

(PHOTO) M. Paul Endress ’77 and wife Karen (Hass) Endress ’78 met on Juniata’s campus Nov. 9, 1979, at 319 South Hall. To celebrate the 40th anniversary of where they met, Paul and Karen visited Juniata and had their photo taken in front of Karen’s old dorm room. While in Huntingdon, they also walked by the Cloister Arch and had lunch at Kelly’s Korner.
1980
George I. Meyer ’80 was elected First Vice President of the Board of Directors for the Frank Lloyd Wright Building Conservancy. He has served on the Board since 2015. The Conservancy’s purpose is to preserve all remaining structures designed by the world-renowned architect, Frank Lloyd Wright, and was behind the recent successful UNESCO World Heritage submission that included Pennsylvania’s Fallingwater.

Leonard J. Plaitano ’83 retired from the U.S. Navy Dental Corps. after 23 years of service.
Edward M. Taliff retired from Montgomery County Public Schools, Rockville, Md., where he taught computer coding in a magnet school program. “Mike” relocated to Mount Union, Pa.
1984

Robert E. Yelnosky ’85 retired from Juniata College June 30, 2020, after 18 years of dedicated service. Rob wore many hats, including VP for Finance and Operations, VP for Enrollment, and Director of Enrollment Technology and Research. He made a lasting impact at Juniata by co-chairing both the campus master plan and strategic plan committees, and played a key role in Juniata’s early sustainability efforts. Prior to working at his alma mater, Rob spent 14 years with Owens Corning Fiberglas. Rob resides in Huntingdon with his wife Jan. They are the proud parents to two young adults, Greg and Charlotte. In retirement, Rob plans to spend his time playing golf, brewing beer, and working at Juniata’s latest addition, the Sparks Farm.

John H. Montgomery ’86 accepted a position as president and CEO of CB Financial Services, Inc. A Philadelphia native, he has worked in banking for more than three decades, most recently in Missouri. CB Financial has offices in Pennsylvania, West Virginia and Ohio. John will be a director of the bank and CB Financial, which also is the holding company of Exchange Underwriters Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of the bank.

Schmuff ’93 took a break from acting to pursue a career as a medevac helicopter pilot, transporting over 1,000 critically ill patients to life saving facilities in Texas, Ohio, Maryland and D.C. Then, in 2017, his acting career took off again when he was cast alongside Megan Fox in "Above the Shadows" as security guard #2.

Leslie A. (Ieraci) Estep ’94 was promoted to superintendent of schools at Tyrone Area School District in Tyrone, Pa. She previously served as director of curriculum and instruction and has worked for the district for 26 years.

Jennifer (Pletcher) Mitchell ’95 accepted a position as assistant superintendent at the Hollidaysburg Area School District in Hollidaysburg, Pa. Jennifer served as a teacher and instructional coach in the Huntingdon Area School District, and then as curriculum director at the Mifflin County School District, in Mifflin County, Pa.

Shannon M. Gority ’97 was named executive director of the Chesapeake Bay Foundation’s Pennsylvania office. She was also the first Chief Executive Officer of Capital Region Water in Harrisburg, Pa., where she served as Engineering Director. Shannon studied Pre-Engineering at Juniata and Civil and Environmental Engineering at Penn State University.

Alicia N. (Noerr) Burns ’01 defended her dissertation in March 2020, and earned her doctorate in education in Educational Leadership from Wilkes University.
W. Matthew Eisenberg ’01 was one of 19 honorees inducted into the Middle Atlantic Conference 2020 Hall of Fame. Matt holds 14 Juniata records overall in football, including all-time career leader in receiving yards, touchdown receptions, and all-purpose yardage. He is the only player in Juniata history to achieve over 300 yards receiving in a single game. Matt was inducted into the Juniata College Sports Hall of Fame in 2012.
Derek D. Swick ’01 was named vice president of regulatory and technical affairs at Can Manufacturers Institute (CMI). Prior to this appointment, Derek spent 16 years with the American Petroleum Institute (API), where he was an advocate for the oil and natural gas industry, managing health and product stewardship advocacy and toxicology research.

James J. Krug ’02 was published in the March 2020 issue of the UK-based "Phenomena" Magazine for his article "Is the Habitability of Mars Being Kept Secret?" He appeared on "The Kevin Moore Show," Aquarian Radio Hawaii, and Ares Radio New York, and presented at the 2020 MUFON Philadelphia Conference.

(PHOTO) Emily M. Coyle ’03 was promoted to partner at Plunkett Cooney in Detroit, Mich. Her legal expertise is in Bankruptcy and Creditor Debtor Rights, Insolvency and Reorganization Law. She was selected by her peers for inclusion in the inaugural edition of Best Lawyers: Ones to Watch 2021, which recognizes young attorneys for their outstanding professional excellence in private practice in the United States.
Jesse H. Rhodes ’03 published a new book with Brian Schaffner and Raymond La Raja, Hometown Inequity: Race, Class, and Representation in American Local Politics.

Adam L. Shaffer ’05 was promoted to Chief of Interpretation, Education, and Visitor’s Services, Flight 93 National Memorial in Shanksville, Pa. His new duties include overseeing the day-to-day visitor services, which includes visitor center operations and planning for special events and programming. In this role, he is responsible for the observance held annually on September 11, education and outreach, oversight for the Volunteer-In-Parks program and oversees programs for the ranger staff.

Brad M. Kissell ’06 was honored with one of Altoona Mirror’s 20 Under 40 Awards. Brad is a veterinarian and president of Sylvan Veterinary Hospital in Hollidaysburg, Pa.

Chad D. Black ’07 was promoted to Lead Systems Analyst in Epic Security for UPMC Pinnacle, Harrisburg, Pa. Chad oversees an IT security team and works with senior leadership to maintain HIPAA and SOC compliance.

Joseph D. Houck ’08 was promoted to Associate Professor at Penn State University. He was also selected as a mentor for the US National Chemistry Olympiad team, traveled to Paris with the team for the International Chemistry Olympiad in 2019, and is preparing study camp materials for the next international competition.

Daniel M. Albaugh ’09 earned his master’s degree in organizational leadership from Johns Hopkins University. Dan works as a police officer and crime scene investigator with the Ephrata Police Department, Ephrata, Pa.

He earned his J.D., cum laude from Duquesne University School of Law, where he was a senior editor on the Duquesne Law Review and the founding president of the law school’s Appellate Moot Court Board. He received the Duquesne University School of Law Distinguished Student Award, the Shalom Moot Court Award, and was elected to the Order of the Barristers.

Mark W. Berguson ’11 completed his residency in anesthesiology after serving as chief resident for 2018-2019 at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Mark moved to Duke University Hospital to pursue a fellowship in Adult Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology for 2019-2020 and co-authored a publication in Nature Communications.
Alex L. Cooper ’11 returned to campus in November 2019 to give a lecture titled Intro to Machine Vision: 2D, 3D and AI. Alex works as an Application Engineer with Cognex.
Megan E. Lopez ’11 completed her master’s degree in Conservation Leadership from Colorado State University, Fort Collins, Colo. Her research focused on cattle farmer-jaguar conflict and coexistence in southern Belize. Megan works as lead development officer with the Ya’axche Conservation Trust, a Belizean conservation non-profit organization.

Margaret R. Vos ’18 received one of 2,076 National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships. Vos, who studied Life Sciences and Structural Biology at Juniata, was chosen from a pool of 13,000 applicants and is conducting her research at the University of Arizona.
Tyler M. Watkins ’18 graduated from the Pennsylvania State Police Academy, Hershey, Pa., in March 2020. Tyler is a trooper in Carlisle, Pa.
