A Letter from President Troha

President Troha

Dear Friends,

This year’s President’s Report marks a decade as your 12th president. Jennifer and I remain beyond blessed to be part of this wonderful Juniata community.

So much has changed since my inauguration in 2013—new graduate and undergraduate programs, a rise in national rankings among top national liberal arts colleges, a historic comprehensive campaign, a nationallyranked Mock Trial Team, renovated facilities/brand new buildings, several new athletic programs, added study abroad options and several new international partnerships. We also just received our full re-accreditation this summer, which is a BIG deal!

While we have had notable achievements amid an extremely challenging environment, what has not changed is Juniata’s mission to provide an engaging, personalized experience empowering our students to develop the skills, knowledge, and values that lead to a fulfilling life of service and ethical leadership in a global community. Our dedication to providing the highest quality liberal arts education remains steadfast.

Our new strategic plan, “All In”, doubles down on our liberal arts tradition that values intellectual curiosity, critical inquiry, and is appropriately centered on the core values and principles upon which Juniata was founded. This plan ensures we live up to the promise we make to our students and community while remaining nimble and adaptive to a rapidly changing environment.

To conclude, I want to personally thank our extraordinary Board of Trustees, dedicated faculty and staff, our Juniata students, and the Huntingdon community for welcoming and embracing Jennifer and me these past ten years. We feel a tremendous amount of pride in the progress we have made as a community and are so honored to be a small part of its success. And with one of the largest incoming classes Juniata has ever seen, the momentum is palpable as we commence a new academic year!

With warm regards,
James A. Troha, Ph.D.
