Monthly Day of Service

Each month, Juniata students sign-up to volunteer with a local organization and complete a project.  For a list of tentative monthly service day opportunities, see the Community Service Office Calendar.

AFSP Out of the Darkness Community Walk

The core of the Out of the Darkness Walks, the Community Walks, created a movement.  Created by the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, held in hundreds of cities across the country, they give people the courage to open up about their own struggle or loss, and the platform to change our culture's approach to mental health.  The Juniata Valley walk is sponsored by many local human-service agencies and is hosted by Juniata College every year.

Special Olympics (Fall Semester)

Every October Juniata College welcomes athletes to campus for the Special Olympics Pennsylvania Fall Sectional. Over 300 participants and 120 student volunteers work together for a day filled with sports, food and fun!

Make a Difference Day (Fall Semester)

Each year, Juniata students participate in this National Day of Service. MDD brings students, faculty, staff and community members together to complete service projects benefiting various organizations across Huntingdon County.

Youth Spring Carnival (Spring Semester)

Each Spring Juniata College invites area school children to campus to enjoy games, food and activities. Student clubs/volunteers run games and activities at the event.

Relay for Life (Spring Semester)

The American Cancer Society Relay for Life brings together students, faculty and staff in a campuswide effort to fight cancer. Participants form teams and fundraise throughout the spring semester. Their efforts culminate with 12 hours on the track spent walking, camping and celebrating life. Sponsored by Colleges Against Cancer.

American Red Cross Blood Drives

Each year, Juniata sponsors four blood drives on campus. Over 100 students, faculty and staff volunteer to coordinate these drives and donate blood to the local Red Cross. For more information on upcoming blood drives and donor registration contact
