Elizabethtown 2, Juniata 0

Elizabethtown, Pa. ? Another strong performance was not enough for the Juniata College women?s soccer team as Juniata dropped a 2-0 decision to Elizabethtown College in Elizabethtown Wednesday afternoon. Juniata is now 6-10-1 overall and 0-6 in the conference. Elizabethtown improved to 9-6-2 on the year and 4-1-1 in the conference.

The Blue Jays got a goal in each half on their way to the victory. Kelly McCauley notched the first goal at 17:27 off an assist from Mary Weidman. Elizabethtown continued to pressure in the first half, firing off 16 shots at the Juniata net. Juniata freshman keeper Lisa Russo (Lakeland/Haskell, N.J.) seven of her ten saves in the first half to keep Juniata in the contest.

Things turned in the second half as Juniata out-shot the home team 7-5 in the final 45 minutes. But Juniata could not find a way to beat Elizabethtown keeper Amy Weid, who finished with three saves all of them in the second half.

The Blue Jays then added an insurance goal as Keeley Trumbo knocked in a goal in the 83rd minute. Kelly Drumel assisted on the score.

Juniata will play its season finale on Saturday at conference opponent Moravian.
