Lebanon Valley 5, Juniata 1 ANNVILLE, Pa. - The Juniata College men\'s soccer team fell victim to an offensive onslaught from Lebanon Valley College as the Eagles dropped a 5-1 decision to the Flying Dutchmen in Commonwealth action Saturday in Annville. The loss dropped Juniata to 5-9 on the season and 0-4 in the conference while the home team is also 5-9 overall and now 1-4 in conference play. Lebanon Valley jumped on the Eagles in the early going and Juniata was never able to find its footing in the contest. The first goal of the match came in the fourth minute as Jo Kopchick scored unassisted to quickly give the Flying Dutchmen the edge. The pressure continued as Lebanon Valley\'s Travis Steedle scored slightly more than 10 minutes later, with his unassisted goal making it 2-0 in favor of the home side. Juniata\'s defense, and goalkeeper Mark Guthridge (DuBois/DuBois) would keep Lebanon Valley at-bay the rest of the half, despite Lebanon Valley firing off 12 shots. Guthridge finished the half with one save. Twelve minutes into the second stanza Kopchick struck again, converting an Adam Burns corner to give the home team a 3-0 lead. Three minutes later, Steedle produce his second goal off an Eric Nkurunziza assist to make it 4-0 with 30 minutes left. Juniata answered that fourth score as the Eagles broke through with their first tally. Bryan Hess (South Western/Hanover) scored his team-leading fourth goal of the season, this one coming off an assist from Fred McNeal (Troy/Towanda) which cut the lead to 4-1. But Lebanon Valley countered with its final goal three minutes later as Zack Barkus produced an unassisted tally that capped the scoring. Tim Penrod (Moravia/Moravia, N.Y.) played the second half in goal for Juniata and made three saves. Juniata\'s offense generated more scoring chances in the second half as the Eagles fired off six shots and forced Lebanon Valley keeper Tim Mehl into making five of his six saves. Andrew Raudenksy played the final 27 minutes in goal for the home team and made one save and did not allow a goal. Juniata\'s next match will be Wednesday at Commonwealth foe Elizabethtown. ###
