HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Juniata College freshman Katie Healy (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mt. Lebanon) has been awarded Landmark Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week honors for the week ending March 29, 2009.

Healy helped lead the Eagles to a 3-0 mark last week, including a 5-4 win over Drew University to improve the Juniata's conference record to 2-0.

Healy had a perfect 3-0 record in singles matches during last week's run, all at no. 2 singles, including a 6-4, 6-2 win over Drew's Kristin Brown that sparked Juniata's rally in singles play to defeat the Rangers. She also had a pair of doubles wins during the week. Healy is currently 9-2 this season, 7-2 in dual matches, and is riding a seven-match winning streak in singles play.

Juniata's three wins last week also improved Juniata's 2008-09 record to 8-4, giving the program the most wins since the 1999 season. The Eagle women's tennis team has three matches on its slate for this week, ending with a Landmark matchup with Goucher College on Saturday, April 4, in Huntingdon.
