HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Senior Sarah Ruggiero's (Bangor, Pa./Bangor) late second half goal tied up the game, but was not enough as University of Scranton defeated Juniata College 2-1 Saturday afternoon in women's soccer action.

Ruggiero tied the score in the 87th minute when she collected a loose ball in the goal box and beat Royal keeper Caitlin Byrne. With today's goal, Ruggiero finished her Juniata College soccer career with a total of 14 goals, which places her fifth career goals at Juniata College.

Scranton's (12-3-2, 2-2-1 Landmark) 22nd minute goal put the Royals on the scoreboard first. Eileen Sodano lifted the ball over Juniata keeper Kristen Penska's (North Huntingdon, Pa. /Norwin) head.

Erin Unterstein's game winner came not long after Ruggiero tied it up. Unterstein chipped the ball in the top of the net on a direct penalty kick in the 88th minute.

Penska played all 90 minutes in goal for the Eagles and recorded one save. Scranton's Byrne saw all 90 minutes in the Royal goal and recorded two saves.

Scranton outshot Juniata 9-6 and held a 4-3 advantage in corner kicks.

Juniata closes its 2009 season today with a final record of 5-12-0 and 1-5-0 in the Landmark.
