On Thursday Feb. 9, at 9 p.m., Abe Parker, a folksinger from Bluerock, Ohio, came to Juniata for a coffeehouse performance. The event was hosted by the Juniata Activity Board (JAB), and snacks and drinks were available for students at no cost.

Parker wrote many of the songs he performed, including one called “Little Sister,” which he dedicated to, yes, his sister. The audience was awestruck by his lyrics and swung their hands rhythmically from side to side while Parker sang. He also dedicated  a song to those who were single, and the lyrics spoke to those who were not currently in a loving relationship. During the performance, Parker called out one student to come up front to show some off the moves that she was doing in back. He further instructed the rest of the audience to stand up and dance along.

At the end, many audience members enjoyed the experience, including French exchange student, Charles-Elie Latawiec, and Lucie Case’ 19 from Aarongburg, P.A. “I decided to go with my friends, and I really enjoyed his music,” Case said. Latawiec also said, “I liked the singer, he was confident and involved his audience.”
