FROSTBURG, Md. ? For the second time this season the Juniata College men?s tennis team rebounded from a loss by posting a convincing victory, this time as the Eagles posted a 7-2 win over Frostburg State in non-conference action Monday afternoon. The win raised Juniata?s record to 13-2 on the season while Frostburg State fell to 5-5 with the loss.

Juniata opened the match by taking two of three doubles contests, and then earned five singles victories.

Juniata dropped the match at first doubles, but picked up the slack at second and third doubles. Tom Nelson (State College/State College) and Robert Bowser (Dallastown/York) were 8-5 winners at second doubles, while Jack Walfish (Spring-Ford/Royersford) and Jonathan Cohen (Highland Regional/Hollywood, Fla.) claimed a convincing 8-2 win at third doubles.

Cohen then matched his doubles victory with by earning one of Juniata?s five singles wins as he claimed a 6-4, 6-2 win at fifth singles.

The tightest victory for the Eagles came at third singles where Brandon Long (Lebanon/Lebanon) was extended to a third set before earning a 6-3, 4-6, 7-5 win. The only other three-set match came at sixth singles where Juniata?s Casey Chew (Phoenixville/Phoenixville) was outlasted by a 4-6, 6-4, 7-6 score.

The remainder of Juniata?s singles wins came in straight sets. Neil Eicher (Altoona/Altoona) earned a 6-4, 6-2 win at first singles. Jonathan Skoner (Central Catholic/Pittsburgh) rolled to a 6-3, 6-2 at second singles. Ryan Navarro (Bishop Guilfoyle/Altoona) then capped the singles wins with a 6-0, 6-4 victory at the fourth singles position.

Juniata will be back in action on Thursday when the Eagles wrap up the conference season with a match at Messiah College.
