Welcome to Juniata! We've created this guide to help you become more familiar with the technology resources and tools that students use while at Juniata College. All incoming students are required to have access to a laptop meeting the minimum requirements outlined for class purposes. (These machines can be individually owned, shared with another student, or borrowed when available).
Before You Arrive on Campus:
- Purchasing a Computer: When purchasing a laptop computer, please follow the guidelines specified on the Recommended Computer Specifications page. Please note that Juniata students are also eligible to receive discounts from both Apple and Dell.
- Software: Juniata provides access to much of the software used on campus through our labs and our applications server. Juniata students who wish to install software on their personal computers are eligible for a discount on many software products.
- Webmail: The main method of communication at Juniata is email. You can access your Juniata email account from home using Webmail or Microsoft Outlook. The ITS knowledgebase contains instructions on using webmail, as well as adding your account to Outlook for Windows and Outlook for Mac.
Connecting to the Network:
Visit the ITS Knowledgebase for instructions on how to connect your device to the campus wireless network.
- Computers:
- Mobile Devices (Cell phones, Tablets)
- Entertainment Devices (Gaming Devices, TVs, etc)
- Off-Campus Access: Juniata uses a VPN tool to allow students to use Juniata resources while away from campus.
Juniata Resources: Getting Started
Once you arrive on campus, you should learn more about many resources available, but here are some basics:
- Printing: Students are given 1,000 prints per semester and can add additional prints for 1 cent per page. Students are able to print from their computer and retrieve their print job from any of the designated printers (located in almost every academic building and Ellis Hall) by entering in their ID number. (Instructions for connecting)
- Password Reset Tool: Once enrolled with the tool, students are able unlock their account and reset their password as needed. (Instructions)
