PSU Chemist to Lecture on Atomic-Scale Worlds

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Penn State chemistry professor Paul Weiss, director of the Center for Nanofabrication and Devices, will lecture at Juniata College on "Exploring and Controlling the Atomic-Scale World" at 2 p.m., Friday, Feb. 11 in Room P223 in the Brumbaugh Academic Center on the Juniata campus.
The lecture is free and open to the public.
Weiss' research centers on nanoscale chemistry and materials science.
He earned a bachelor's degree and master's degree in chemistry in 1980 from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He went on to earn a doctoral degree in chemistry from the University of California at Berkeley. After graduation he worked as a postdoctoral researcher at AT&T Bell Laboratories and at the IBM Almaden Research Center.
He joined the Penn State faculty in 1989 as an assistant professor and was promoted to associate professor in 1995. He was promoted to full professor in 2001. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the American Physical Society.
