HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Combining magical illusions with comedy and romance, the magical duo Kevin and Cindy Spencer will astound the audience with elaborate stage illusions that include levitation, mind-reading and classic stage magic at Juniata College at 7:30 p.m., Friday, Oct. 6 in Rosenberger Auditorium in the Halbritter Center for the Performing Arts on the Juniata campus. For tickets and information about the Juniata College Presents series, please call (814) 641-3608. General admission tickets for single performances are $20, except where otherwise noted. Single-show tickets for seniors over age 65 and children age 18 and under are $12. Juniata College students are admitted free with a student ID. The Spencers\' show, titled \"Theatre of Illusion,\" combines a high-tech stage show with elaborate stage illusions such as several classic \"magic box\" illusions, as well as the \"water box\" escape trick made famous by Harry Houdini. Using dramatic lighting, special effects and music, the Spencers take the prestidigitation of classic magic shows into the 21st century. The show includes mind-reading, audience participation tricks and even incorporates a member of the audience in the show, as the volunteer crawls into a box that will soon be hammered with the \"Spikes of Doom.\" Other illusions include walking through the blades of a massive industrial fan, levitation, disappearing tricks and several escape tricks. Kevin Spencer has been performing magic since high school, but he decided to become a stage magician after meeting legendary theatrical magician Doug Henning. He continued to perform throughout college until he teamed up with Cindy to form a magic duo show designed to tour. Cindy Spencer has always been a performer, although not necessarily doing magic. She started her performing career as a singer and performed in a vocal performance group that toured the country. She met Kevin Spencer while working in Dallas and the couple was married in 1983. Cindy started in a small role as stage assistant and after Kevin was in a debilitating traffic accident she became a full partner in the show as a magician. The couple performs at colleges and universities across the country. \"Rarely has a crowd been so thrilled and energized by a performance,\" says an administrator at Shawnee State University in Ohio.
