HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- The Juniata College student organization PAX-O, which is a club for the college's students interested in peace and conflict studies, is sponsoring a march to call on Congress to bring an end to the war in Iraq. The march starts at 2 p.m., Saturday, March 17, on the steps of Ellis Hall.
The group will gather at Ellis Hall and then walk as a group to the 4th Street Bridge (near the Huntingdon railroad station), where the group will stand to protest the war. The group will be at the bridge from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
"We'd like people to meet on the steps of Ellis Hall, but anyone interested in joining this peaceful demonstration is welcome to meet the group at the bridge at 3 p.m.," says Sebastian Brown, a sophomore from Takoma Park, Md. and one of the organizers for the march.
Brown says students, professors and community members are going to attend the march, and he encourages others at the college and in the surrounding community to participate. The March 17 date marks the four-year anniversary of the start of the Iraq war.
