HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Pamela Reist, a Church of the Brethren minister from Mount Joy, Pa., has been named to the Juniata College board of trustees as church trustee for a two-year term, effective immediately.
Reist is associate pastor at the Lititz Church of the Brethren, in Lititz, Pa., a post she has held since 2004. Prior to that she served as pastor of Christian nurture from 2001 to 2004 and as director of Christian nurture from 2000 to 2001.
She has started her religious service career in 1991 as minister of Christian education at Mount Joy Mennonite Church, a post she held until 1999.
She earned a bachelor's degree in foreign languages in 1975 from Findlay College (now University) in Findlay, Ohio. She took graduate courses through Eastern Mennonite Seminary in Harrisonburg, Va. from 1991 to 2000, and through Bethany Theological Seminary in Richmond, Ind. from 2000 to 2004. She earned a master's degree in religion in 2004 from Lancaster Theological Seminary, in Lancaster, Pa.
She has been active in her professional and civic communities. She has served on the district board for the Atlantic Northeast District of the Church of the Brethren since 2005. She also serves on the District Ministry Commission, and was named vice chairperson in 2006. She also served on the Congregational Nurture Commission of the Lancaster Mennonite Conference from 1995 to 2000, serving as chairperson from 1999 to 2000.
She served as chairperson of the strategic planning committee for the Kraybill Mennonite School from 1998 to 1999. Reist also served on the school's board of trustees from 1990 to 1996.
She is married to David Reist, and the couple has four daughters: Erin, 29; Meryl, 27; Jennie, 25; and Dana, 22. Dana Reist is a senior at Juniata College.
