HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Erica Rhodes, a senior studying history and the daughter of Loren and Donna Rhodes of Huntingdon, Pa., was named a finalist for the American Graduate Fellowships by the Council of Independent Colleges as part of a program designed to promote and support advanced study in the humanities.
"These scholars and indeed all the finalists, are truly talented and include some of the most capable graduates of America's smaller liberal arts colleges and universities," says Richard Ekman, president of the CIC.
Rhodes was recognized among applicants from 53 different institutions across the country. She plans to study American history as a graduate student at Vanderbilt University.
The Council of Independent Colleges is the national service organization for small and mid-sized independent colleges and universities. It includes more than 570 colleges and universities.
