MADISON, N.J. -- The Juniata College men\'s cross country team was picked to finish third in the inaugural season of Landmark Conference competition, while the women\'s squad was picked fourth, in preseason voting by the league\'s head coaches and sports information directors. Juniata claimed 61 points in the poll, trailing only preseason pick Susquehanna with 64 points and the United States Merchant Marine Academy with 63 points, in what was the tightest voting of any of the Landmark Conference\'s six fall preseason polls. Trailing Juniata were the University of Scranton (42 points), Catholic University (41 points), Moravian College (29 points), Goucher College (19 points), and Drew University (17 points). The Eagle men\'s cross country squad returns six of seven runners from last year\'s squad that finished 17th at the NCAA Regional meet. The Juniata women\'s cross country squad received 46 points in the preseason poll. Catholic topped the poll with 71 points, followed by Scranton (64 points), and Susquehanna (51 points) in third place. Trailing the Eagles was Moravian (40 points), Goucher (27 points), Drew (20 points), and USMMA (18 points). The Landmark Conference was formed in 2005 and begins competition this fall. The 2007 Landmark Conference Cross Country Championships will be held October 27 at Goucher College. -30-
