(Posted March 31, 2008)
HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Students from a Juniata College music course, "History of American Popular Music," will hold a public forum to answer the questions "Does culture affect popular music or does popular music affect culture?" and "Does culture alter the differences in age-appropriate music and lyrics?" at 7 p.m., Tuesday, April 8 in Alumni Hall in the Brumbaugh Academic Center on the Juniata campus.
The forum is free and the public is encouraged to attend to join the discussion. The music course is taught by James Latten, assistant professor of music at Juniata.
The forum will be hosted by students from the music class and panel members for the forum will include Donald Braxton, J. Omar Good Professor of Religion, Mark McKellop, assistant professor of psychology, and two Juniata students: Linden Will, a freshman from Blandon, Pa., and Megan White, a senior from Glen Rock, N.J.
The forum is an element in Latten's course on the history of American pop music. Students in the course have organized the event.
