Two Juniata Students Attend Washington, D.C. Seminar

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Two Juniata College students, Cody Cooper, a sophomore from Port Matilda, Pa., and Ashley Pinamonti, a sophomore from Spring Mills, Pa., attended the Challenges to National Security in a Global Society Academic Seminar in Washington, D.C. May 19-24.
The one-week program is sponsored by the Washington Center for Internships and Academic Seminars. The Washington Center is an independent, nonprofit organization that serves hundreds of colleges and universities in the United States and other countries by providing selected students challenging opportunities to work and learn in Washington, D.C., for academic credit.
The program included talks by Lawrence Korb, a senior fellow at the Military and National Security Center for American Progress, and Gale Mattox, professor of political science at the U.S. Naval Academy. In addition, Rep. Michael McCaul, chair of the House Homeland Security Committee, David Sanger, chief Washington correspondent for the New York Times, R. James Woolsey, former director of the CIA, and Ambassador John Limbert, former deputy assistant secretary of state for Iran, also will speak at the seminar.
