HUNTINGDON, Pa.— Juniata College continues to rank among the top colleges and universities in the nation. U.S. News & World Report announced today that Juniata College is ranked #90 among the best national liberal arts colleges in the publication’s just-released 2025 rankings of 1,500 national colleges and universities.  

The U.S News also ranked Juniata College in two other categories: 

  • #25 in Top Performers on Social Mobility among national liberal arts colleges. This specialized ranking recognizes colleges that enroll and graduate large numbers of students receiving Pell grants.   
  • #66 among Best Value Schools in national liberal arts colleges. This ranking looks at academic quality and the net cost of attendance.  

“Juniata College is pleased to once again receive national recognition for the quality and value of our education,” said Jim Troha, Ph.D, president of Juniata College. “The rankings clearly demonstrate the significant difference Juniata College faculty and staff make in supporting students throughout their education.” 

To develop its rankings, U.S. News evaluates 13 measures of academic quality for national liberal arts colleges, placing its emphasis on social mobility and graduating student outcomes. U.S. News publishes the rankings annually to provide prospective students and their families with the comparative merits of colleges and universities.

Washington Monthly 

The Washington Monthly ranked Juniata as #62 among national liberal arts colleges. When looking closely at these areas of recognition, Juniata College ranked #91 for social mobility, #58 for research, and #24 for service.  

Since 2005, the Washington Monthly has ranked colleges based on what they do for the country—based on their contribution to the public good in three broad categories: social mobility, research, and promoting public service. 

The Princeton Review 

Juniata College is named one of the nation's best colleges for undergraduates according to newly published recommendations by The Princeton Review. The Princeton Review’s surveys of 168,000 students who attend the 390 best colleges. Juniata College appears on the following lists:   

  • Lots of Race/Class Interaction (#6): students were asked whether “different types of students interact frequently and easily”   
  • Best Classroom Experience (#17): students were asked to “rate their professors, classrooms and lab facilities, amount of in-class time devoted to discussion, and the percentage of classes they attend”   
  • Most Accessible Professors (#21): students were asked whether professors were available outside of the classroom to meet and connect   
  • Great Financial Aid (#25): students were asked whether they liked the financial aid package they received 

Wall Street Journal  

The Wall Street Journal ranked Juniata College as #353 on its comprehensive best colleges list. With its research partners College Pulse and Statista, the Wall Street Journal has published a college ranking since 2016.  

The ranking focuses on the importance of student outcomes such as graduation rates and graduate salaries to help students and their families identify which colleges will do the most to help them graduate and make more money. The scores are based on student outcomes, learning environment, and diversity.
