Juniata Mock Trial Advances to Opening Round of Nationals, Second Team Still in the Hunt

HUNTINGDON, Pa. — After a standout season of legal arguments, Juniata College’s Mock Trial team is once again advancing to the Opening Round of Nationals, with a second team set to compete this weekend for an opportunity to join them on the national stage.
“I am so happy for our team members who have been working hard since the season began in August,” said Coach Attorney David Andrews ’74. “After starting 4-0 after the first two trials, the team had a narrow loss on Sunday morning but responded with a decisive victory in the final trial to finish 6-2, earning a bid to the National Tournament.”
The Blue Team, after weekend wins at the American Mock Trial Association (AMTA) Regional Tournament hosted by Penn State University, will progress to the championships to be held March 14-15 at the historic Butler County Courthouse in Hamilton, Ohio.
Individual team members winning honors at the weekend tournament Cornell were Alyssa Clark ’26 of Altoona, Pa., who received the All Region Attorney Award, and Maddie Herold ’27 of South Abington Township, Pa., who won the All Region Witness Award.
Juniata’s White Team finished 4-4 in the Tournament, with Nathan Dedominic ’27 of Trappe, Pa., winning an All Region Attorney Award. Next week, the Juniata’s Gold Team will travel to Buffalo N.Y., to compete in the Buffalo Regional Tournament, with the goal of also advancing to the Nationals.
Six teams of the 24 competing at the State College Regionsl will progress to the Opening Round of the Nationals. Joining Juniata College’s team will be Princeton A and B, Franklin and Marshall, Penn State B, and Lafayette.
A total of over 720 teams entered the National Tournament at the start, with playoff competitions taking place throughout the United States. Following the Opening Round of the National Championship, the remaining 48 teams will face off at the National Championships in Washington, D.C, from April 17-19, 2026.
