Biography
Dr. Stylianides joined Juniata College in 2023, as the Director of the newly developed Exercise Science and Kinesiology program. He earned his PhD at the University of Toledo, his MS at Illinois State University, and BS at the University of Tennessee, and specializes in Biomechanics and Anatomy. He has held positions at academic, research, medical, and government institutions throughout the United States and the world. He has been an Executive Board member for the 3D Analysis of Human Movement, a technical group of the International Society of Biomechanics.
Over the years, he has received several awards, including “Teacher of the Year”; teaching is one of his passions. His research interests evolve around clinical and sport biomechanics, gait, balance, scoliosis, as well as working with elderly and disabled populations. Dr. Stylianides has developed and directed human performance laboratories and has served in leadership positions. He is fluent in three languages (English, French, and Greek) and has a great deal of interests and hobbies, including but not limited to hiking, photography, collectibles (cameras, coins, stamps, …), and sports.
He is married to Karen, who is also a professor, and they have two bright children, Aikaterini “Kaiti” and Antonios “Tony”.
