Biography

Andrew Heckel is an assistant professor at Juniata College in the Exercise Science and Kinesiology program. He completed his MS and PhD at Syracuse University, and his BS at Florida State University, where he studied Exercise Science. Andrew's primary research interests revolve around using subclinical measures of cardiovascular physiology to investigate how altering lifestyle factors, such physical activity and exercise, may help to reduce cardiovascular health disparities in marginalized populations. Andrew is a member of both the national and regional American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) chapters and looks forward to bringing students to the annual ACSM conferences.

Andrew is looking forward to working in the newly developing Exercise Physiology lab at Juniata College, which will be utilized for both teaching and research purposes. He looks forward to bringing students into the lab space to test and explore different concepts in exercise physiology. Outside of school, Andrew enjoys playing soccer and golfing, watching his favorite sports teams (Manchester United and the Jacksonville Jaguars), and playing computer games.
