Laucks Chosen As Conference Player of the Week

Huntingdon, PA - Juniata College junior middle hitter Katie Laucks (West York/York) has been named the Commonwealth Conference volleyball player of the week for helping Juniata to four victories this past week. This was the fifth time a Juniata player has captured the player of the week award from the conference office.
Laucks had her best outing in a 3-0 Juniata win over conference foe Widener. She pounded out 16 kills with three errors on 30 swings to help Juniata to the victory. She also notched four aces, four digs and two blocks in the match. She was in double figures again with 12 kills against Eastern University, while chipping in six digs, a pair of aces and two blocks. She rounded out the week by posting 14 kills with no errors on 24 attacks against 25th-ranked Carnegie Mellon. She also tossed in three aces with two blocks and a dig. Laucks finished the week with 44 kills and a sparkling .488 hitting percentage while contributing 10 aces, 11 digs and five blocks.
Laucks has been a consistent all-around player for the Blue and Gold this season after earning first-team All-American honors following her sophomore season. She ranks second on the Eagle squad with 276 kills on the year, an averaged of 3.33 finishes per game. She is first on the Juniata team with 54 aces, and ranks second in blocks with 67. She also has 70 digs on the year. Her 16-kill performance against Widener moved her past the 1,000 kill mark for her career. Laucks' kills per game total ranks her seventh in the conference, while she's second in hitting percentage and aces per game. She also ranks eighth in the conference in blocks per game.
With one week left in the regular season, the Juniata College women's volleyball team holds a 25-3 record and are ranked second in the most recent American Volleyball Coaches Association Division III top-25 poll. Juniata will close its conference regular-season schedule on Tuesday when the Eagles take on Susquehanna.
