Juniata Track Performs Well At DuCharme Relays

JUNIATA TEAMS FINISH SECOND AT DUCHARME RELAYS
Carlisle, Pa.? The Juniata College men?s and women?s track and field team?s used a deep pool of athletes to capture second-place finishes on both the men?s and women?s sides at the DuCharme Relays at Dickinson College in Carlisle Saturday afternoon. The Eagle men finished second out of a six-team field as they earned 137.50 points, while the women placed second out of five teams with 104 points.
For the Eagle women, Meredith Troutman (Meyersdale/Meyersdale) was the top performer as she claimed two victories. She ran to a first-place finish in the 200-meter dash, and then matched it with a win in the 400-meter. Elena Amato (Notre Dame Prep./Baltimore, Md.) placed fourth in the 400, two seconds behind Troutman.
Caitlin Hinson (Danville/Danville) added a third-place finish for the Eagle sprinting corps as she finished third in the 55-meter dash. Lauren Gates (Bishop Guilfoyle/Altoona) placed third for the Eagles in the 800, while Nancy Hayes (Westminster/Westminster, Md.) finished third in the 3,000.
Maria Welch (Jersey Shor/Avis) had the lone top-four finish for Juniata in the field events as she placed third in the long jump.
For the men it was another strong day for Randy Anderson (DuBois/DuBois). The sophomore claimed first-place in the 200-meter dash and added a second-place finish in the 55-meter dash. Dusty Sier (Smithsburg/Smithsburg, Md.) finished fourth in the 55-meter dash. Anderson added a third-place finish in the long jump, while Jeremy Weber (Garden Spot/Mohnton) placed second in the long jump and third in the triple jump. Matthew Booth (Allentown Central Catholic/Allentown) was fourth in the triple jump.
Another winning finish came from Adam Loser (Central York/York) who placed first in the high jump. Justin Fritzius (Central York/York) added a third-place finish for the men in the 3,000-meter run while Eric Hoover (Brandywine/Wilmington, De.) rounded out the top-four finishes as he placed fourth in the 800-meter dash.
Juniata will compete next weekend at the Susquehanna Invitational.
