HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Don't wait until April 13 to get started on your taxes. The accounting students of Juniata College, certified by the IRS' Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program, will be offering free tax preparation for low-income seniors through April 15.

Any interested citizens should call (814) 641-3661 to schedule an appointment for the service.
The VITA program is an IRS service that offers free help for people who cannot afford professional assistance, such as low-income workers and senior citizens.
Those interested in the service should bring their prior year's tax return, current tax forms, and any W-2's, 1099's, etc. A brief interview is required and all information will remain confidential.

People who are self-employed, own rental real estate or have incurred capital gains are advised to meet with a professional tax preparer, as such issues are beyond the scope of the VITA program.
