Afternoon Concert Scheduled for Juniata Instrumental Ensembles

HUNTINGDON, Pa. -- Three instrumental ensembles comprised of Juniata College students will perform in concert at 3 p.m., Sunday, April 10, in the ballroom in Ellis College Center on the Juniata campus.
The concert is free and open to the public.
The concert opens with the Juniata College Percussion Ensemble. The group will perform a variety of music, including "Berceuse," "Ritmo Jondo," "Streams" and "The Swords of Moda-Ling."
Juniata students performing in the ensemble are: Matt Booth, a freshman from Allentown, Pa.; John Boyer, a junior from Belleville, Pa.; Oxana Chernichkina, an international student from Volgograd, Russia; Elizabeth Diesel, a senior from Somerset, Pa.; Kevin Kasun, a junior from Altoona, Pa.; Tom Kimmel, a junior from Canfield, Ohio; Rachel Meyer, a sophomore from St. Marys, Pa.; Dan Popernack, a freshman from Hummelstown, Pa.; Jennie Rinehimer, a freshman from Berwick, Pa.; Carolyn Romako, a freshman from New Cumberland, Pa.; Jon Shirley, a senior from Albuquerque, N.M.; Mitchell Somers, a senior from Oil City, Pa.; Jenna Taylor, a sophomore from Narvon, Pa.; and Amy Wade, a freshman from Schuylkill Haven, Pa.
The Juniata College Sinfonia will perform next, taking on the Gustav Holst composition "St. Paul Suite." The group will also play "Carmen Suite," by Georges Bizet, which features full orchestra instrumentation.

Violin: Elizabeth Diesel, a senior from Somerset, Pa.; Jenny Liu, a freshman from Pennsville, N.J.; Laura Rodgers, a freshman from Williamsport, Pa.; Jessica Mann, a junior from Northampton, Pa.; Ann Sassaman, a freshman from Selinsgrove, Pa.; and Hannah Taylor, a junior from Norristown, Pa.
Viola: Genna Huston, a freshman from Severna Park, Md.
Cello: Emily Baron, a freshman from Easton, Pa.; Christopher Ree, a freshman from Copake, N.Y.; and Sarah Bay, a junior from Harrisburg.
Bass: Carolyn Romako, a freshman from New Cumberland, Pa.
The Juniata College Jazz Ensemble will perform a series of jazz compositions, including "Moondance," "Sing, Sing, Sing," "Bellavia," "Night Train," "Vehicle," "Zoot Suit Riot" and "April; in Paris."

Alto Sax: Dwight Bard, a freshman from Warfordsburg, Pa.; Tara Fitzsimmons, a chemistry mobile educator at Juniata; and Andy Fornadel, a freshman from Columbia, Md.; and Barry Long, a freshman from Pottsville, Pa.
Tenor Sax: Muhammad Jami, a junior from Montrose, Pa.; and David Lewis, an adjunct member of the music faculty at Juniata.
Baritone sax: Alison Earnhart, a junior from Mercer, Pa.
Trumpet: Tucker Dietrich, a sophomore from Spring Grove, Pa.; Alex Monteleone, a senior from Floral Park, N.Y.; Aaron Shotts, a freshman from Everett, Pa.; Crystal Trinneer, a junior from Phillipsburg, N.J.; and Michael Madden, a freshman from McVeytown, Pa.
Trombone: Acacia Brunett, a sophomore from Portage and James Nelson, a junior from Lanse, Pa.
Guitar: Nick Daddario, a junior from Yardley, Pa.; and Peter Knepp a freshman from Huntingdon, Pa.
