JUNIATA TRACK TEAMS IN GOOD POSITION AFTER TWO DAYS AT MAC MEET

Chester, Pa.? With two full days of competition complete at the 2005 MAC Track and Field Championships both the Juniata College men?s and women?s track and field teams sit in sixth place. The Eagle women have earned 26 points through two days, while the Juniata men have compiled 20.5 points through two days of competition.

The Juniata men posted high finishes in the running and jumping events, and also saw two more school records fall.

It began in the 3,000-meter steeplechase as Justin Fritzius (Central York/York) placed third and broke his own school record as he recorded a time of 9:46.55. Jason Hoover (Brandywine/Wilmington, Del.) added an eighth-place finish in the event.

Juniata saw three athletes earn points in the triple jump. Matthew Booth (Allentown Central Catholic/Allentown) led the way with a fifth-place finish, while Gary Ondecko, Jr. (Bishop Carroll/Northern Cambria) was sixth and Randy Anderson (DuBois/DuBois) placed seventh.

Adam Loser (Central York/York) rounded out Juniata?s scoring for the day as he placed fourth in the high jump.

Anderson also broke his own school record in the 200 as he qualified for the finals on Saturday.

The Eagle women did the majority of their damage in the throwing events. Kira Troutman (Line Mountain/Valley View) placed third in the shot put, and was followed by Debbie Delaney (Franklin/Reisertown, Md.) who placed fourth.

Juniata matched those finishes in the discus as Jan Jennings (Pleasant Valley/Saylorsburg) notched a third-place effort, and Delaney added another fourth-place finish.

The Eagles had numerous athletes qualify for the finals in various events for the final day of competition.
